Page Notes
I’ve long been fascinated with the explosion of Krakatoa, most likely because my dad introduced me to the wonderful book, The 21 Balloons, as a kid. It gives an alternative history for the explosion, but if you want the straight (and terrifying and amazing) history of the event (and the events leading up to it and following it), I highly recommend Simon Winchester’s Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded. A person couldn’t make this shit up.
About the Author
Molly Demeter Sokolow Hayden (or Modemeter, for obvious reasons of length) grew up surrounded by her father’s comic book collection, sometimes literally. She fell in love with Will Eisner’s Spirit at an inappropriately young age and wishes she could draw like Jaime Hernandez. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, her daughter, and her cat, and sneaks down to her drawing table whenever she can.
